Unlock The Doors
It would be a crime not to
Hi there
I recently watched a fascinating Netflix series called Unlocked, which covers an interesting experiment in a Little Rock, Arkansas jail.
Initially, inmates were confined to their cells for 23 hours a day. The experiment? They were given the freedom to manage themselves with minimal supervision, under clear but strict rules.
Sheriff Higgins believed in the inmates’ ability to handle this responsibility, and simply asked them to prove him right.
I won’t give you any spoilers in case you want to watch the show but this experiment made me think about the journey many agile teams undergo.
Similar to the inmates, teams often discover their potential for self-management gradually, starting with a degree of trust and empowerment. And this self-management is crucial for navigating complex and uncertain environments where micro-management is neither effective nor desirable.
But, just like the show, becoming a cohesive, self-managing unit is not easy and not all teams make it.
Introducing the Team Mastery Pathway
While I promise not to lock you up, I’ve got a six-month Team Mastery Pathway that will significantly accelerate your team’s journey towards effective self-management. Here’s what I’ll help your team achieve:
Develop a Habit of Self-Improvement: Constantly refine and enhance their skills.
Set and Raise Their Quality Bar: Elevate standards of work to new heights.
Create and Strengthen Unity: Forge a stronger, more cohesive team identity.
Become Audacious in Ambitions and Achievements: Encourage bold steps and significant accomplishments.
Deliver Unprecedented Value: Surpass previous milestones in value creation.
Based on my book, the Team Mastery Pathway consists of a number of dynamic workshops and personalised coaching sessions designed to sharpen vital self-management skills. Your team will not only be given great self-management tools but will also enhance their reflective practices and build up crucial aspects of team dynamics and performance including:
Establishing effective relationships within and outside the team
Making effective decisions as a unit
Navigating conflict constructively
Meeting and extending the definition of quality
Increasing creativity and innovation in their work
Enhancing individual and team resilience
